Husky Energy

June 1, 2012

Husky Energy recently approached Site Manger, Shirley Hope, at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre, asking for information on current fundraising initiatives.

In celebration of their 40th anniversary of the Ram River Gas Plant, a division of Husky Oil Operations Ltd. operating in the Rocky Mountain House area, the corporation wished to make a significant donation to the local health facility.

“Husky has a proud history as an operator in the Rocky Mountain House region and offering support to the communities where our employees live and work is a corporate value,” said Rob Symonds, Senior Vice President of Western Canada Production. “This important fundraising initiative will enhance the Health Centre’s ability to care for members of the community.”

The fundraising initiative to which Mr. Symonds referenced was enhancement to the Cardiac Care Program at the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre. When learning that the RMHHC Donations Committee was within $48,000 of fulfilling this $250,000 fundraising goal, Husky stepped up in a big way.  On Friday June 1, 2012, Husky Energy presented David Thompson Health Trust with a cheque for $50,000 to be used to complete this current fundraising initiative.

The $50,000 donation, combined with numerous other donations from generous community members and local businesses, enabled the Health Centre to purchase new real-time patient monitors and mobile technology, allowing for quick review of cardiac rhythms on the go by physicians. It will also enable swift collaboration with specialists not directly available on site, or in the community. In addition, new telemetry equipment is being installed at the Centre, which will allow for continuous monitoring and cardiac assessment of patients both at rest and during activity.

The Hospital, David Thompson Health Trust, and the RMHHC Donations Committee are very grateful that Husky Energy came forward with this significant donation for such an important fundraising initiative!
